Two years later on the same day, on January 29, 1990, the racist mindset made our people indefinably stricken with griefs by forbidding to memorialize the National Resistance Day and giving the opportunity to loot the Turkish tradesmen shops and to attack the Turkish minority members.

The day of January 29, is the day that our minority, in spite of the discrimination, has loudly voiced their willingness to live in this country, saying that they are Turks against those who deny their ethnic identity, living in their own cultural circle without leaving Turkish traditions, feeling like a dignified citizen of this country. As Friendship Equality and Peace Party we will never forget and we will always remind you to memorialize the shown heroism in today`s anniversaries, being indebted to today`s heroes and to sympathize the deceased. The Western Thrace Turkish Minority is a minority which its rights and remedies established by international treaty. We want that all governments of the world asses this in that way. We have waited and are waiting patiently for the reinstatement of our minority rights that have been usurped for years. We woke up and continue waking up every day hoping that it will get better, it will be good. Unfortunately, no progress has seen for the name of regaining our rights till today. Our country, Greece, continues to usurp our rights by not hearing the voice and requests of the Western Thrace Turkish Minority but imposing to us. Against the violations of the human rights of our homeland, Greece as a European Union country, we look with concern for the name of humanity and peace the silent and unresponsive remain of the European States. This double standards policy leaves us questioning our belief in concepts such as democracy, human rights, freedom of expression, which form the basis of the European Union. The mentality that says that there are no Turks in Western Thrace years ago continues to darken our lives in every area. We now want to be a minority whose rights are respected in our country, whose schools are not closed by lame excuses, whose institutions are not subject to police raids, and whose institution presidents who explain their thoughts are not called to inquests and are not sued. Briefly we do not want to be a minority who took down and forced to stay silent. On the day when peace-equality-friendship is alive, our greatest desire is to work for the welfare of this country.

We are never hopeless. There is no goal that could not be reached in unity and solidarity. No one doubts about that; our conflict will continue with all its strength until the day we reach the equality, friendship and peace. As the Friendship Equality Peace Party, we remember with respect the January 29 National Resistance and Solidarity Day.
